A couple of days ago I mentioned that the latest sets in the Walt Disney Treasures series would feature the Zorro TV series of the 1950s. These are now available for pre-order at Amazon. These sets would be great not just for Disney collectors or nostalgia lovers, but for anyone who has kids who want them to see something a little more interesting and better than what is currently available on TV. They will be in store around November with the cost being around $39, although I think that price will come down a bit before release day.

Also available for pre-order is this special Blu-ray/DVD combo release of the first ever feature length animated film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, still one of the greatest movies of all time. It has been eight years since Snow White was last released on DVD and it sold out very quickly. I say this from experience as I looked everywhere for it, eventually getting a copy all the way from New Zealand.  This new limited edition will sell out very quickly too and it will look stunning. It is currently listed as being just $20.

The final product that I would like to highlight is the upcoming Monsters, Inc. 3-Disc Edition on Blu-ray. This is a great film and this three disc edition is bound to have heaps of extras. Price is $24.50.51GSPWAJt1L

One thing that I haven’t previously mentioned is that I do have an Amazon A Store. (Not that anyone has bought anything from it!!!) I will put appropriate products that I have to offer in the store on the blog but I won’t overdo things, as I don’t want this place to just be about shilling stuff.

This years’ Walt Disney Treasures will feature two sets containing the three seasons of Zorro. I know lots of people are upset that there won’t be any animated releases this year but I am kinda looking forward to this. I have always wanted to watch the Disney version of Zorro.

Hopefully they will include Walt’s introduction as an extra.

And the time Zorro met the Mouseketeers.

(By the way… Susie The Little Blue Coupe really needs to be restored and put onto DVD!)

mmilc1I have been watching this DVD a little bit lately. I picked it up way back in 2004 from EZYDVD. Disney Australia never really embraced the treasures line of DVDs. They released Mickey Mouse In Living Color Volume 1 and Silly Symphonies Volume 1, followed four moths later by Mickey Mouse In Living Color Volume 2 and the Chronological Donald Volume 1… and then nothing. I’m not sure if they were disappointed by sales here, but then again there was no advertising and the discs were quite hard to get. Then again there has been a move by Disney to distance themselves from their classic animated shorts. Don’t believe me… when was the last time Mickey, Donald and Goofy were seen on the Australian Disney Channel?

Mickey Mouse In Living Color Volume 1 features Mickey’s finest moments on film. Classics such as The Band Concert, Lonesome Ghosts, Thru The Mirror, Clock Cleaners and The Brave Little Tailor are spread throughout this two disc set. The animation is great and these are actually funny Disney cartoons. It wasn’t until the 1940s and Mickey’s design changed that he became dull and his cartoons became quite boring (Anyone who has watched Mickey Mouse In Living Color Volume 2 can testify to this!). I’d recommend anyone who is a Disney fan or an animation fan to track down a copy of this on Ebay. It does not look like these classic cartoons will ever be seen on TV or released on DVD again, so you may have to pay a premium for the DVD, but it is worth it.

* The Region 4 version has I believe, the unedited version of Lonesome Ghosts.
