The last time I made a post on the MYER Christmas windows was in 2007, when the theme was Graham Base’s book Uno’s Garden and I snapped a great picture of the Snortle Pig. I don’t know why I didn’t make a post last year and I am struggling to even remember what the theme of the 2008 windows was.

I ventured to the MYER Bourke Street store again this year to look at the windows and took a few more very good photos. The theme this year was Olivia Helps With Christmas, based on the book by Ian Falconer.

I do think Olivia is very cute. Both Priscilla and I adored the original Olivia book so much that we sent a copy up to Brisbane when my cousin gave birth to her daughter Olivia.

The MYER windows are again great this year. The story is read by a recording of Moonee Ponds’ own Dame Edna Everage, a true Melbourne icon.

We also should try to remember the true meaning of Christmas too. Fortunately MYER aren’t all about the commercialisation of this holiest of times and have given baby Jesus a tiny window for him and his family.
