I have updated my post on racist Australian liquorice of the 1940s and 50s. I was force to update it as Photobucket, where I hosted the pictures, deemed that they breached their terms and conditions by being racist, and therefore deleted them. Of course this is just Photobucket putting their head in the sand and looking at the past through rose tinted glasses. If we ignore the mistakes of the past then we are doomed to repeat them in the future, whilst if we whitewash this then we will get Australians saying that racism has only been a problem in foreign countries, not here.

Of course for Photobucket to have pulled the pics it means that someone must have complained about them. Perhaps it was an African American looking at them without the context, or perhaps it was a do-gooder who wants everything to be politically correct. Hell, maybe it was another Aussie who took offense at Australia being labelled racist. Whatever the reason we cannot let history off so easy and ignore the mistakes that were made by previous generations.
