Just thought I’d note that Nina Paley’s brilliant Sita Sings The Blues will be screening at the ACMI cinemas in Melbourne on Sunday May 17th and Sunday May 24th at 10.30am and 1pm.

Sita Sings The Blues is a movie that combines the traditional Indian story of the Ramayana with a contemporary Western love story. It has caused a bit of controversy due to offending some conservative Indian people and due to the infringement of copyright issues to do with the music used in the film.

All tickets are $5 which is a bargain in these tough economic times.

Sita Sings The Blues is also available for free download from the official website. This is due to Nina’s battles with the copyrighting of some of the music she has used in the film.
