This is the first Superman story that I have posted and it features Lois Lane’s niece Susie. By the mid-1940s Superman had become so powerful that the writers were struggling to find villains who could trouble the Man of Steel. They started having Superman come up against pests like Susie, the Toyman, the Prankster and Mr. Myxlplkt who would give him lots of headaches.

At the moment there seems to be a bit of a panic in Victoria. Ever since Black Saturday on February 7th it seems that every time the weather is predicted to be a little hot or a little windy we get multiple warnings that death and destruction are on the way.

Last Friday the weather was meant to reach 38 yet it only got to 34. It only reached that temperature at around 3pm, as for most of the day the temperature hovered around the 28 degree mark. This was meant to be the day we saw the most extreme temperatures since Black Saturday yet they never materialised. On Friday a number of schools and kindergartens and businesses were closed because of the warnings. Similarly yesterday we were supposed to get winds of over 100kmh whipping across the state yet the day just seemed a little windier than normal. The head of the emergency services yesterday said that he was not crying wolf over the warnings yet it seems that this is exactly what he has been doing.

This is an unusual story by Gardener Fox with art by Carmine Infantino. This was one of a number of weird sports stories that DC published. I think next I will post the story about the gorilla football team…

Thinking about this story, perhaps the villain from EC’s Foul Play would be able to fit into this team.
