The Porsche 996 GT1 of 1998, better known as the 911 GT1 won only a single race in it’s career. Fortunately it was the only real race that counts, the 1998 Le Mans 24 Hours, but if it was not for this very lucky victory, the car would be considered a major flop.

The winning 911 GT1 visited Melbourne in 2007 for the Phillip Island Historics, and also posed for photos at Southbank.

After its victory at Le Mans the only other thing of note that the car did was some aerobatic work at the 1998 Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta. Fortunately driver Yannick Dalmas was unhurt and the car was able to be put back together again.
