Browsing Moviegoods website I wonder how the posters for modern movies stack up against the old classics.
Slumdog Millionaire won the best picture Oscar at the 2008 Academy Awards. The poster is very modern but I like it a lot.
The poster for the 1997 film Titanic takes a lot of cues from the 1942 classic Casablanca.
The posters for the 1933 version of King Kong are my favourites.
The posters from Peter Jackson’s 2005 film try to evoke the original posters and movie to a degree, but just don’t work for me. Much like his movie they seem to lack heart.
The posters from the 1977 version of King Kong are just tacky, so typical of the 70s.
I may do more of these comparisons in the future!
