Not all animated cartoons are funny, as this cartoon, the first ever by UPA shows. This film was made for the United Auto Workers union and was made purely as propaganda with the aim being to get Franklin D Roosevelt re-elected. Chuck Jones and a lot of other notable animators helped UPA get this film done. I like the design of the FDR train a lot.
Before they went commercial UPA made lots of industrial and political films, the other notable one being Brotherhood of Man, which I talked about in a previous post. This film tries to promote racial harmony and was made for the United Auto Workers just prior to the car factories integrating their production lines.
