Here is a great song by John Fogerty. The film clip is very nostalgic with lots of historical baseball clips.

Louis Jordan’s Caldonia

This was from 1946, almost a decade before Little Richard, Chuck Berry and Elvis Presley.

Channel [V]

I was just watching Channel [V] and their [V]intage program which promised to play some of the great music hits of the past. It was amazing as they went back all the way to 2009. That year was such a long time ago I almost forgot about the great music that came from that era. It’s amazing just how much music has changed and evolved in the nine months since 2009 ended and how little airplay that the songs made way back in 2009 get on the radio these days.

Of course I am being facetious here and I wonder why Channel [V] would bother to have a show dedicated to playing songs from the past if they are only going to go back one whole year to find them. It could have something to do with kids today who seem to think that any song older than a couple of months is really, really ancient.

The 80s was a time of mullets and good music. Recently I was arguing with some Gen Y’ers that 80s music was better than the stuff that they listen to. Back then there was no such this as auto-tune or sampling, the artists actually had to be able to sing and play their instruments.

  1. Aerosmith – Dude Looks Like A Lady
  2. Whitesnake – Here I Go Again
  3. Steve Perry – Oh Sherry
  4. Def Leppard – Rocket
  5. INXS – Never Tear Us Apart
  6. Bad English – When I See You Smile
  7. Bon Jovi – You Give Love A Bad Name
  8. Joan Jett – I Love Rock N Roll
  9. Michael Jackson – Thriller
  10. Dire Straits – Money For Nothing
  11. Peter Gabriel – Sledgehammer
  12. The Rolling Stones – The Harlem Shuffle
  13. MadonnaPapa Don’t Preach
  14. Cyndi LauperGirls Just Want To Have Fun
  15. Bros – When Will I Be Famous

Sorry, the last couple of songs were a bit silly but they are still better than Justin Bieber. I think I will do another post on this topic a bit later and list such awesome acts as Flock Of Seagulls, Tiffany, Martika, Debbie Gibson, Roxette etc that are still better than the rubbish that Fox FM and Mix play on the radio.

This is reputed to be the worst album cover of all time. It is a shocker but what do you expect from the mid-70s.  There are many album covers that are just as bad such as…

Hooooooggannnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!

Am I the only one who thinks that ventriloquist’s dummies look evil?
See what I mean!

Mrs Mills is not my Mum… well my Mum is Mrs Mills but not the one pictured above, although I remember that we had that wallpaper.

(It was the 70s, everyone had that wallpaper)

Movin’ right along…

Borat?

I think that’s enough for now… I may post some at a latter date.
