I love stop motion animation and I used to love watching this Christmas cartoon as a kid, I haven’t seen it for a while but have to search for it this holiday season.
I also need to find Rankin Bass‘s Mad Monster Party, which I have never seen. It looks weird enough.
I like the way this is animated and how it retains the spirit of Haddom Sundblom’s original posters from all those years ago.
Just what compels Bolt to make at least one post every day with a Youtube link to some opera performance? Is it because he wants to show that he is not a Barbarian but is a part of the cultural elite. Perhaps I am a barbarian as this is the only opera I can think of that I like.
NMA.tv looks at the current wave of anti-Islamic sentiment sweeping across America.
This maquette is US$125 from here. It is really nice looking although not as nice as the art work that inspired it IMO.
I don’t know whether to be excited about these releases or not. I still haven’t bought the Bugs Bunny Hare Extraordinaire or Daffy Duck Frustrated Fowl DVDs that were released at the start of the month (although I plan to). The contents of these two as announced on TV Shows on DVD are as follows.
* Unfortunately all of the Tweety & Sylvester cartoons are already available on DVD. In fact most of the disc looks just like one of the Golden Collection disc (Volume 3, disc 4?) with a couple of different cartoons thrown in.
I will probably pick up the Foghorn DVD but as I already own all of the Sylvetser and Tweety cartoons I will avoid that one like the plague. I have also heard some quite horrendous stories about the Bugs and Daffy DVDs and how it is presented in widescreen despite the cartoons not being made in that way, which has resulted in a lot of details, including characters heads, being cut off.
What’s with the Hollywood studios trying to make so many horrible live action/CGI adaptations of old cartoons? We’ve had Garfield, Rocky & Bullwinkle, two Scooby Doo movies and two Alvin and the Chipmunks films while movies in development at the moment include the Smurfs and Yogi Bear, who have both released some awful traiers. Also starting development are Bugs Bunny, Marvin the Martian, Tom & Jerry, Hong Kong Phooey and Speedy Gonzales. Sigh! Worse still is thta the characters will all have back stories set in the ‘real world’. For example…

BTW, who’s George Lopez… obviously some American TV guy that no one outside of the USA has heard of… Also let me guess, Sylvester will be a real cat.
