Here’s an Aussie animated commercial for Fanta that played in the cinemas in the early 70s.
I can’t pinpoint the exact date this was made but it does feature John Farnham and the animation does seem to be more than inspired by Yellow Submarine which was made in 1968. Obviously the execs were trippin’ when they made this commercial.
There was a follow up commercial which I gather was shown on TV (considering it’s in B&W)
A while ago I wrote about the Freddo The Frog cartoon that was shown on the old Tarax Show in the early 60s and how this was our first ever made for TV animation program. I wondered why we haven’t done so much to preserve this piece of our history and why fragments of the cartoon hadn’t shown up on Youtube.
Anyway here’s an animated commercial from the same period as the cartoon was made. I assume that the actual cartoon was like the ad and made by the same people.
An interesting ad for Cadbury’s from the earliest days of Australian TV.
The ad presents a few talking points that I can see. Did we all really speak like the voice over guy in the ad does? Is there a reason he’s trying to sound so British? Was our animation industry really so awful back in the 50s that this was the best we could do? Is Cadbury’s only meant for people who can afford to buy a Jaguar XK 120 convertible?
Batman may have the greatest rogues gallery in all of comicdom but there are also a few duds too. The Eraser comes to mind as does Crazy Quilt and the Ten Eyed Man, but I think Kiteman takes the cake. 
I wonder whether there is a Kiteman origin story.
